Kaifeng

Kaifeng, referred to as "Bian", was called Bianzhou, Bianliang, and Bianjing in ancient times. It is located in the east of Henan, on the coast of the Yellow River, and adjacent to Zhengzhou in the west. It is the first batch of national historical and cultural cities. Kaifeng is known as the capital city of eight Dynasties and one of the Seven Ancient Capitals of China. As with Beijing, there have been many reconstructions during its history. It reached its peak of importance in the 11th century, when it was a commercial and industrial center at the intersection of four major canals. During this time, the city was surrounded by three rings of city walls and probably had a population of 600,000 to 700,000. It is believed that Kaifeng was the largest city in the world from 1013 to 1127. Henan Opera, the largest local opera in China, originated here. There are 8 national 5A and 4A tourist attractions and 19 national key cultural relics protection units. Kaifeng Qingming Cultural Festival and Kaifeng Chrysanthemum Cultural Festival attract many tourists from home and abroad every year.

MILLENNIUM CITY PARK

MILLENNIUM CITY PARK, which is located in western shore of beautiful Longting Lake in Kaifeng, is a large-scale historical cultural theme park with 600Mu total floor space in Chinese famous ancient city Kaifeng. It was founded in July 1992 in accordance with The MILLENNIUM CITY PARK done by Zhang Zeduan, a famous artist in Northern Song Dynasty and opened to the public in October 28th 1998. The MILLENNIUM CITY PARK is a valuable life drawing for social custom, which represents social life, social custom and building structure of Kaifeng as ancient city in Northern Song Dynasty. Although it only shows part Kaifeng, it is very easy to know other streets’ situation by supposing. What is more interesting is that Zhang Zeduan put it into drawing from life one thousand years ago while Kaifeng’s people put it into life from drawing one thousand years later. Walking in MILLENNIUM CITY PARK makes tourists getting such felling that they have returned to one thousand years ago.

Lord Bao Memorial Temple

Lord Bao Memorial Temple is located in Baohe Park, southwest of the city center. It was initially built in 1066 in memorial of Baozheng, a famous upright officer during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). It is a typical ancient architectural complex with style imitating that of the Song Dynasty.
